Face 2 Face
I am down to earth - Manu Adhikari (VJ, Nepal 1)
Manu Adhikari is not a new name for the one who watches ‘4U@4’ a musical program which is broadcasted through Nepal1 TV. She got recognition from a music video of Migma Sherpa’s ‘Chham Chham’ and now she is more known as a cham cham girl.
A Pretty, bubbly, ambition, energetic and down to Earth, Manu is currently studying BSC in Nursing and Environment Science. Balancing her job and study, she reveals her secrets with Ezine.com.np. More on her own words…….
Modeling in Migma Sherpa’s ‘Cham Cham’
I got chance to be featured in Migma Sherpa’s ‘Cham Cham’ through ‘The Ramp’. There is my relative in that organization and she approached me with the proposal and I accepted as the director was Alog Nembang but I am not going to do further more videos as my parents had permitted me to do only one video.
4U@4
I was studying and I was also in search of a part time job. So, I used to look for the vacancies in the newspapers. It so happened that I saw a vacancy in a Private media house, I applied there and I got the job as a part time. Now, I am engaged with 4u@4. I got opportunity to host this program without any training. It’s a musical program which is broadcasted 5 times a week through Nepal1. In the program, we play the songs on request of our viewers. So, I started my career as a part time worker and still working as the same.
Glamour Field
As a whole, glamour field is delightful, full of excitement and everyone out here is supportive. We got to know lots of people, so, it enhances to build the personal relationship with others. It also helps to build the confidence level but there are people who are always ready to pull your legs but you have to be yourself and ignore them.
Experience while facing the camera for the first time
I felt really really happy and I did not become nervous as I used to take part in elocution contest and other extra activities during my school days. Only difference is that I had not faced the camera before.
Difficulties while shooting for a programme
While shooting, we may find different kinds of people with different views. So, we have to tackle each of them accordingly. There is one incident, I would like to mention regarding this. Once, we went to Basantapur for the shoot and there we met a person who was willing to talk with us. But when we started our shoot, he began to irritate us by doing silly acts and started to sketch my picture, write my name there and showed it in front of the camera. I got confused and thought it to be a fooling programe of some other channels but it was not. After sometime, one person came to me and told me that he was a new ‘Pagal’ of that area.
Time management
I have managed time for my study as well as for the ob. I have no regular shows. I do only three shows a week. So till now I have balanced both.
Economic condition
We cannot lonely depend upon this field to sustain. It’s more hard in entertainment field rather than news beat. It’s ok for the one who have to look after their family member.
Qualities to be a good VJ
- Confidence
- Ability to tackle
- Good looks
Technical knowledge
It is a plus point for any media person. At the beginning, was totally blank/ I had no technical knowledge. So, I had to give difficulty with the technical terms but now slowly and gradually I’m used to these terms.
Family support
My family is very supportive. I should really thank them for telling me to enter this field. I’ve seen some of my friends who are far more talented than me but they are not permitted to get involved in this sector. There is a misconception that a person from a well-off family should not get into this business, so, lots of people think twice before entering this field. But my family totally changed their conception for me.
Future plan
I have not thought of taking this program as my career, I am a science student so my background is quite different from what I’m doing now. If I take this as a career, I would like to get engaged with the program related with new and talk shows rather than entertainment.
Message for fans
I just want to thank them from my heart for loving me, supporting me and helping me to gain popularity. Thanks once again. Thank you very much.
