Remix is a new trend in the Nepali Music Industry. It has been successful in grabbing the attention of the younger generation. Whether we go for parties or attend any programs, remix numbers are always in demand. When the term ‘remix’ comes, the term ‘DJ’ itself strikes in our mind. In a crowd of DJs, DJ Lx stands with his own identity. His first remix ‘Ekai Nazar Maa’ gave him recognition in the Music Industry and now at this phase of his career, his popularity is going on and on. Recently, he has launched his second remix album ‘DJ LX - Ringtones’ and his songs are already hitting the charts these days.

In a conversation, he had lots to share with us. More in his own words…

Remix trend in Nepali music

Remix is mostly loved by the youngsters. Generally, remix are targeted for the party animals. So, it basically consist dance numbers and is also taking good market. I know these kinds of music are not long lasting. But keeping in mind the taste of new generation, I have just tried to fill up the gap as their demand. My debut in remix was ‘Ekai Nazar Maa’ but I got renowned from ‘Man Chhode Maichyang’ from the album target. Now, I am with my latest album ‘DJ LX- Ringtones’ which is going pretty well in the market. With such a positive response, I am in a process of releasing yet another album ‘Clu Mix’ suitable only for parties.

Blame for the distortion of the music

I have not distorted the originality of any song. I have given the best of mine to make the song more audible. I admit that I had done some mistakes in my first try ‘Resham Phiriri’, even I was scolded for that but now I treat all the music equally without harming its original version.

Remix and Rap

It’s not necessary that remix must have Rap. It depends on oneself whether to include Rap or not. Sometimes song itself demands so, we have to put Rap in some of the remix numbers.

Qualities to be a good DJ

The main quality of a DJ is the ability to play the music by understanding the mood of the crowd. Knowledge of the music is the most. DJing is a very creative job, we have to keep in mind the timer of each and every rhythm and beat. We should also have the ability to play the same song differently.

Increasing craze of DJ’s

All depends upon time. People’s taste keeps on changing according to time. There are DJs earlier also. Due to the lack of knowledge, DJs were not given importance but now with the use of advance technologies, people have started to appreciate the work of DJ. Djs have got such power that they can give life to any song.

Night life in Nepal

Night life in Nepal has just been started. Now, lots of parties do take place at nights. People hang out at these places for the enjoyment and to get relief from their day to day work. But I myself attend these programs occasionally due to my busy schedule.

Party Outfits

In Parties, I look different than my normal wears. I wear lockets, differenr accessories and I let my hair loose. So, people hardly recognize me in that get-up.

For all the party lovers, I recommend them to wear closthes which they feel comfortable and which suits them.

Problems of Dj’s

Time management is the major problem. We play the numbers, keeping in mind the time limitation but we often get distracted when people request the songs of their choice. We try our lebel best to fulfill the demands but sometimes we become unable to do so and we often have to hear nasty things from them. These types of situation create tension but however I try everything I could to make them happy.

Reason behind the name Dj LX

Actually my name is Laxman, LX is the short form of Laxman. I have knowledge of music, so, I learnt Djing with my friends Suman and Naresh. As I am a music arranger and a creator, I learnt it in a short period of time. So, I am better known as Dj Lx.

Besides Djing

I am involved with many sectors like, I’ve done music arrangement for different ads like- Mayos, Ral, LG. I do give musics in teleserials. I’ve given background musics for films like Ghaam Chhaya, Don and many more. Because of my work, people love me and admire me.

Is the course of Dj expensive?

Ya, its very expensive. Its even more expensive in foreign countries but the institution will be opened in Nepal very soon. So, its gonna cheap in the recent days.

About the New Album - DJ LX Ringtones

My new album is totally different from the first one. The album contains songs from Nepali Movie only. I have remixed various songs like Ram Jaane, Nagbeli, Chitthi aayena, Parelima Lukaunchu etc.

I haven’t received any negative comments so far. I’ve tried to do full justice to these songs too. This is probably why I have been able to get good support from the audiences and also from the people inside the industry” says DJ LX.

Future Plan

I am planning to do the Mega Event. It will be my solo performance where I will be playing Live for the music lovers but it will take some time.

I don’t know where my future beholds but if Dj sectors get flourished, I’ll certainly be in this fileld but I want to be known as a Dj with a singing capability
