Face 2 Face

Talent 4 seems a gift for me - Jabeek

Jabeek is a star from the million who came in to the limelight with his song ‘Aankha Bhari Aanshu Kina’ and earned name and fame in a very short span of time in the music industry.

His song was included in Anil Sthapit’s collection album ‘Talent 4’, produced by Music.com and it hit the charts and his name got into the crowds of the music lovers. Now, he is busy these days to create another magic with his debut album ‘Zero Kilometer’.

Step into the musical path:
From the very early days of my life, I was interested in singing and composing songs with my friends. When the interest grew higher, I took it as my profession. The element which made me to get involved with this field is the influence of ‘Sonu Nigam’ and his album ‘Deewana’ which made me deewana (crazy) for this field.

People in the music industry:
Till now all are fair to me. All are supportive and inspiring. Everyone encourages me for the betterment. Actually, from the very beginning of my singing career, I got support from the renowned people like Anil Sthapit (cover concept, designer, photographer), and Rajesh Bansal (managing director, music.com).So, I feel lucky to have them as my supporters.

Training:
At the beginning, I got training from Gurudev Kamat but in the middle due to my studies, I had to discontinue with it. Now, I am practicing under the guidance of Amrit Chhetri (singer) and I am planning to take an advance course as well.

Is training necessary?
Yes, as it builds the confident level to higher and helps to stand in front of the seniors to show our inner talent. Plus, it enhances our vocal to use in a proper way. There are some singers who have not taken any training but because of their hardship, effort, devotion and regular practice, they became renowned.

Struggle:
I feel I’m lucky in this case as being a new in this field, I did not have to face difficulties in the introductory phase but I have seen my colleagues and other new comers who had to face many difficulties like rejection from the music companies, promotional hindrances and many more.

Talent 4:
Talent 4 seems a gift for me. Before Talent 4, I was busy in recording for my debut album and I was preparing a dummy vocal for that. Fortunately, Anil Sthapit happens to hear my dummy and loved it and he referred me in music.com. There also I was appreciated and we signed a contract for the album. At the same time, they proposed me to include my song ‘Aankha Bhari’ in that album for the promotion, as singers like Nima Rumba, Raju Lama and Babin Pradhan got promotion from their collection album.

1st recorded song:
My 1st recorded song is ‘Chhati Yo Chirera’ in 2004 but I have not introduced it in my album. I recorded this song on the insist of my friends and they gave me a good response. Because of this, I was more inclined towards music.

Besides Singing:
Besides singing, I am interested in computer technology. I took 3 years course in DSE and I was also involved with a software company of Pokhara. But now I am totally devoting my time in singing.

Experience while facing camera for the first time:

I faced the camera for the first time while doing the promo and I enjoyed it. As I am a camera shy person, I faced difficulty while shooting and we had to do many retakes. But when we shooted for a music video, I found it much easier than before. It may be because Alok Nembang was the director and he created a very familiar environment to work.

Memorable incident:

There are many incidents but I would like to share one of them with you. Once a girl came to me and proposed me, so, to tackle the situation, I told her that I have a girlfriend and she started crying but my nightmare, I was unable to stop her from crying.

Zero Kilometer:
This is my first debut album. The arrangements are almost finished and recordings of four songs are already completed but I am still waiting for some good compositions. Hopefully, the album and the music video will be released in Falgun.

Regarding the name ‘Zero Kilometer’, an astrologer told me that the word ‘Z’ is lucky for me and then my friend came to me with that name as I was born and raised up in a locality called Zero kilometer of Pokahara. Even this album is the starting point of my career, it is meaningful and catchy as well.

In this album, I have tried to give the continuity and follow up of my previous song. One can find my album very different with classical based fusion songs, feature rap and folk rock.

Controversy of ‘Aankha Bhari’:
Some say it is the copy of Enrique’s Hero but one should compare both songs at the same time to term it as a copy. I agree, arrange wise some parts do match but it’s not a copy. We are just influenced. I, myself have composed the song. There is my effort and hardship. I have tried to bring the real feeling which is the basic requirement for the song, so, it won’t be fair to term ‘Aankha Bhari’ as a copy.

Future Plan:

I am uncertain about my future. But I want to be in the music industry till the extreme point. If the luck is not in my favor, I will have to think about other alternatives.

Message for the upcoming singers
Come up with some knowledge to sustain in the industry for the long run.
