The men from Male are in great form after a 3-0 defeat of Pakistan on Tuesday and meet India in the final Group A match with both teams already through to the last four.

Ismail Mohammed and Ibrahim Fazeel were the heroes for the Maldives with two goals each in the capital Male.

It was a clinical performance from the hosts who took the lead in the tenth minute through Ismail. But just a minute later, Nepal were back on level terms as Vishad fired home.

Maldives were back in front just after the restart as Ismail grabbed his second of the match.

The game was almost over as a contest shortly after as Fazeel made it three and on the hour, the same player added his second and the team’s fourth of the match.

 “We played well tonight and also the opponents played really well,” Maldives coach Jozef Jankech told reporters after the match.
