Veteran singer Kumar Kanchha dies

Popular singer Kumar Kanchha, who had long been suffering from spinal tumor which had rendered him partially paralyzed, passed away in a hospital in Mumbai, India on Monday. He was 53.

Kanchha was undergoing treatment for Spinal-cord tumor at Raheja Hospital in Mumbai for the past several months.

Although his parents where originally from Dailekh in Nepal, he was born in Kolkata (then Calcutta) in West Bengal state of India in Dec 13 1957.

Kanchha has given his voice in more than 100 Nepali movies and acted in few of them including 'Lahure'. He has also two Nepali albums to his name.

He has also sung more than a thousand songs in over 25 languages in India.
