Hits FM Music Awards 2067

Another milestone covered in the history of Nepali music and another big achievement for all our music artists- Close Up 14th Hits FM Music Awards, 2067 held yesterday was a huge success.

Hosted by three of the Hits FM RJs Manoj KC, Safar Pokharel, and Sambriddhi Rijal, the most prestigious awards ceremony kick started with Dibya Subba And The Blue Acids as the opening act. They welcomed the audience with their rocking performance of “Namaste Namaste”. The single went on to bag two trophies for Best Rock Composition and Best Performance by a Group or Duo with Vocals. Other artists walking away with two titles each were Ciney Gurung, Nabin K. Bhattarai, and Rajesh Payal Rai: Gurung with “Best Rock Vocal Performance,” and “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” for “Hidchu Hidchu” and “Hira Moti”, Rai with “Record of the year” and “Album of the year” for his song “Darshan Namaste” while Bhattarai won “Best Pop Composition” and “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance,” for the single “Halla Nagara”.

Slotted with a string of entertaining performances mostly from the nominees such as Hemant Rana, Ananda Karki, Rajesh Payal Rai and Ciney Gurung, the two main highlights of the program were the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Tribute. Veteran singer Phatteman Singh Rajbhandari was honoured with the former for his years of contribution to Nepali music and handing over the award to Rajbhandari was CNN Hero 2010, the chairperson of Maiti Nepal, Anuradha Koirala. The Tribute was paid to late singer-lyricist Govinda Katuwal who is remembered for hits “Haar Raat Mera Neend Haru” and “Sheetal Bokne Chandra Jasto”. Senior singer Deep Shrestha, who was also Katuwal’s best friend, took to the stage to sing “Haar Raat Mera Neend Haru” along with his wife Sophiya Gurung.

The event saw a banging conclusion courtesy Albatross who sang two of their singles- “Awaaz” and “Shristi Ra Drishti” and had the audience wanting for more.
